Surprise! Nintendo just announced a new handheld out of the blue, and it’s sleek, sexy, and fast. Introducing the New Nintendo 2DS XL. The New Nintendo 2DS XL gives consumers who can’t decide between the simplicity and affordability of a 2DS and the size and processing power of the New 3DS XL a perfectly alluring compromise. Set to launch on July 28 for $150, the New Nintendo 2DS XL will launch alongside two highly anticipated new handheld titles: Hey! Pikmin andMiitopia.
“This new addition to Nintendo’s portable hardware line demonstrates our commitment to the hand-held market,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and COO. “New Nintendo 2DS XL sports a beautiful clamshell design and offers a great balance between price and performance.”
This is everything you could want in an affordable Nintendo handheld device, with no compromises. If you feel like no-glasses 3D is a bit of gimmick and don’t feel like paying extra for that kind of thing, then this is the handheld for you.
All games will be displayed in 2D, but unlike the readily available 2DS, we’re getting a lot more real estate with the screens here. The New 2DS XL also boasts the same upgraded processing power of the New 3DS line of handhelds, so you can expect faster loading times, snappier menu navigation, and even enhanced frame rates and performance on some titles (like Yoshi and Poochy’s Woolly World and Monster Hunter Generations).
