Goodbye to Paradise Pier and hello Pixar Pier. Disney made a another huge announcement at the D23 Expo 2017. In 2018, more of your favorite Pixar stories will come to Disney California Adventure park with the new Pixar Pier.
Pixar Pier will feature a brand-new look for the area now known as Paradise Pier, as some of your favorite characters come to life on this seaside waterfront. You will discover whimsical neighborhoods filled with your friends from “The Incredibles,” “Inside Out” and even more of your pals from “Toy Story.” Building upon the evolution of Disney California Adventure park from the “money pit” California themed park was when it first opened in 2001 to a true Disney themed park that began in 2007.
One of the attractions and themes on the current pier are already Pixar themed. The Toy Story Midway Mania is one of the main attractions that draws a big crowd. Many of the shops on the pier already sell mostly pixar goods as well. Other rides like California Screamin’, King Triton’s Carousel, and Mickey’s Fun Wheel are some of the original attractions of the park that not only draw crowds but continues to some of the most iconic attractions park for almost 20 years. Its unclear if Disney will change these iconic ride for the Pixar theme or leave them as is.
All changes look to be happening very fast as Disney is calming that “this permanent addition to the park will open during a new limited-time celebration taking place throughout the Disneyland Resort in 2018 — Pixar Fest!” Confused? What Disney means in this horribly contracted statement is simply, the changes to the pier will be finished in time for the new “Pixar Fest” happening in 2018.
At Disneyland park, this incredible celebration will feature a brand-new fireworks spectacular as well as the return of the guest favorite, Pixar Play Parade. This popular parade is moving across the Esplanade from DCA to Disneyland.
And it’s Official: the popular “Paint the Night” parade returns — this time, to DCA with am all new float joining the nighttime parade. We’ll have more details to share on Pixar Pier and Pixar Fest in the months to come.
